After the tour, a total of 27 posters reporting on the research activities of NITE-DOB were presented in the foyer of the Kazusa Akademia Hall. A welcome party was held at the same time and place to stimulate interactions among participants. Many showed interests and asked questions to poster presenters.

(26 September)
A scene of the satellite symposium A Satellite Symposium of MBC2003 entitled "Marine Microbes and Extremophiles" was held on September 26 in the Kazusa Akademia Hall. Fifteen speakers including many invited from abroad presented current progress in this and related fields.
